Ambitious?

PS: My only issue is: there is no off button on our 3 boys…

Brainstorming a kitchen

Brainstorming a kitchen….After nearly 4 years in our house, we want to explore some improvements. Primary objectives: more storage space, and more light, with some constraints… I spent the afternoon with my pencil and eraser. I’m “houzzing” a few pictures for inspiration too.
And guess who we’ll be consulting? Our favorite Manue now CEO of “1411Intérieurs”!!
Beware….work ahead?!

Testing WordPress galleries: living room before, during, after

Testing WordPress galleries which I have never used before…
Here with a living room before, during, after, our renovation.
For instance, I wonder can we create a gallery directly with pictures from our phone, or do they have to be loaded on the blog before? I’m not a techy, so happy to hear about your experience with and tips for WordPress galleries.

Front door, front Dior! Before-After

When I type ‘front door’, the French autocorrect types ‘front Dior’…how very chic!

So here it is, thanks to the ideas, advice, and shared enthusiasm of Houzz users, we finally chose a color, sanded and prepared the door, and painted 3 layers of…. ‘petroleum blue’!
We changed our mind a few times, between teal and dark red, and light grey. In the end, the choice happened in-store, on an instinct… this Teal-meets-NottingHill-blue just felt right.

Now there is another debate on Houzz: painting the living room door… Would you be for or against?
Aaaah the joys of the never-ending to-do list…

Je kiffe Houzz: Regardez quelques-uns des montages proposés par les internautes de la communauté Houzz, en plus de plein de conseils techniques pour poncer et repeindre la porte….enfin, je devrais dire les portes parce que je constate une quasi unanimité pour repeindre aussi la porte du salon!! Aaaaaah, un projet en plus?!

I have recently downloaded the Houzz free app. I found it very nice for browsing but I was not doing anything else with it. Today I asked the Houzz community for my first advice…about our front door color options.
In a few hours, I received several replies, suggestions, pictures for inspiration, and even a few photo-montages with different colored doors!
I’m truly amazed at the power of such a community, the collective creativity bubbling there.

Atelier peinture post-Boncoin

Nous venons de rajouter un to do de plus à notre longue liste…
On a trouvé deux lits identiques sur le boncoin. Ils sont en pin, pas magnifiques, mais il y a du potentiel (j’espère). Pratique: chaque lit a 3 petits tiroirs de rangement plus un tiroir lit pour les soirées pyjamas avec les cousins, cousines ou petits copains de classe.
Les lits sont démontés dans la buanderie, il faut les peindre maintenant!
Ci-dessous, les lits (en mode “avant”…pour combien de temps?)

Jardiniers amateurs

Amis jardiniers éclairés bonsoir!
Comment s’appelle cette jolie plante? Il parait qu’elle produit des fleurs blanches. Prise en photo sur la terrasse d’une copine qui en ignore le nom, je trouve qu’elle irait bien dans le beau pot rose flashy reçu le week end dernier, un cadeau de crémaillère!
Alors à votre avis?

Question du jour: quel dessin pour notre cache-poubelle / abri jardin / rangement divers?
On utilisera les restes de la terrasse pour le construire- du mélèze donc puisque notre choix est à priori fait.

Nouveau projet… la liste est longue!

Voici un nouveau projet sur ma longue liste de bricolages à faire. Le temps manque!
J’ai trouvé ce meuble aux puces il y a plusieurs années. Le pin n’était pas très beau et j’ai fini par le peindre il y a peu; vous avez reconnu? Il me restait du gris zinc n°1!
Maintenant, je voudrais m’attaquer à l’interieur. Plutôt que de peindre les étagères et le fond, j’ai bien envie de tenter l’experience papiers japonnais. Ca m’est venu en lisant les posts et les conseils de Green Vintage ici. Ca sera plus technique que la peinture sans doute, mais tellement beau! A la reflexion, je pense que les vraies difficultés seront les suivantes:
1- Choisir les motifs japonnais,
2- et faire ça avant 2015!
Des conseils?

Below is a new item on my long, very long, to-do list. I would like to decorate the inside of this piece of furniture with Japanese papers, as seen on Green Vintage. I have never done this before, and hope I will manage. But in the end, I think the real challenges will be:
1- chosing my papers
2- doing this before 2015!
Any advice?
