Frames 101, and shuffling furniture
I like shuffling furniture around from time to time. The couch has been around the living room since we moved here.
Last Friday I decided to reshuffle a bit, and also, it was high time, to hang a few frames together. I read a couple of blog posts providing advice and different layout options, and then I went ahead.
Ok, now I have to chose art to actually put into the empty frames!

Still work to do!
But that will be enough for a weekend.

Testing WordPress galleries which I have never used before…
Here with a living room before, during, after, our renovation.
For instance, I wonder can we create a gallery directly with pictures from our phone, or do they have to be loaded on the blog before? I’m not a techy, so happy to hear about your experience with and tips for WordPress galleries.

Painting the old damaged mirror
This old family mirror was quite damaged. Some of the gold and pieces of old plaster were long gone, and it was looking battered.
Superman had bought plaster and a little pot of gold to take a shot at an amateur yet proper restoration.
The missing plaster was replaced and molded manually… And then we changed our mind on the gold and decided to use some left over gris zinc paint from Leroy Merlin.
I’m happy with the result.
On this one, I think a proper restoration could not have suffered our amateur skills!
This was a year ago, but a post on “Our French Oasis” blog just reminded me of this!
Finding a battered treasure, and deciding what to do with it , and then actually doing it (my weakness definitely), is an interesting journey, every time.

Avant-Après: le camouflage poubelles
AVANT, quand on était assis côté terrasse on avait une belle vue vers le sud…et nos deux poubelles:
APRÈS le passage de la Terrasse Magic Team (voir bonnes adresses), nous avons maintenant un abri poubelles, suffisamment grand pour ranger pas mal de bazar: trottinettes, ballons, frisbees, tuyau d’arrosage… Il faut juste qu’on fixe une étagère et qu’on s’organise un peu (peut-être des caisses en plastique?).
Ça change la vue hein?!

La peinture (gris presque blanc) a remplacé le papier peint à fleurs, et le parquet la moquette grisâtre.

NOTRE CHAMBRE & SALLE DE BAIN- AVANT:
C’était la cuisine et une toute petite chambre. Les travaux: démollir les murs, remplacer la porte d’entrée par une porte vitrée, remonter des murs, installer une salle de bain et des toilettes. Nous avons assuré la demolition et l’évacuation. Manue et sa magic team se sont chargé du reste.

Tapis & Carpet!
Je suis contente: j’ai découvert il y a quelques jours un site qui propose des tapis sur mesure. C’est sur le site Decoweb (ici). Vous connaissez déjà? Si oui, dites moi ce que vous en pensez!
On choisit la matière, puis la finition, et enfin la taille (longueur, largeur, ou diamètre si il s’agit d’un rond). J’ai surtout regardé les sisal et joncs de mer, mais ils font aussi du tapis brosse coco/paillasson, du gazon synthétique, etc.
J’ai bien envie de me lancer et de commander.
Ca a l’air abordable. Ca serait nickel pour mon bureau – le tapis créerait une limite entre le côté bureau et le passage de l’entrée depuis le jardin vers le vestiaire. Peut-être une bonne option aussi pour la salle de jeux avec son sol en ciment? Pour l’instant nous y avons mis deux kilims.

Vintage silk & Wonder Woman
J’ai enfin trouvé des rideaux pour le salon…huit mois après notre installation. Ca c’est une petite précision pour les copines qui trouvent que ce blog donne parfois l’impression que “wonder woman maîtrise trop- les travaux, le boulot, les 3 enfants!” Je vous rassure je suis souvent à l’ouest.
D’ailleurs, vous vous souvenez de cette première couche de peinture faite mi-février dans notre chambre? Bon, ben on est le 6 mars, la deuxième n’est toujours pas faite. On dort depuis 3 semaines dans la chambre d’amis– maîtrise totale indeed.
Bref, je vous présente les nouveaux rideaux du salon! Installés aux 2 fenêtres et à la porte fenêtre qui donnent sur le petit immeuble voisin.
C’est un lin blanc cassé qui laisse passer une jolie lumière.
La solution temporaire pour les embrasses? De très vieux foulards en soie, dépareillés mais dans des teintes voisines.
Ça ne restera pas, car ce n’est pas du goût de Superman. Il va falloir trouver d’autres embrasses… Rendez-vous dans un an?

We’ve been living here 8 months, and just put up curtains in the living room. Wink to my friends readers who tell me this blog gives a wonder-woman impression of too much mastery (kids, job, renovation work) – let me reassure you, I’m often a mess, and our house also!
By the way the paint I started mid-february in our master bedroom? Still waiting for the second coat. And yes, we’ve been sleeping in the guest room for 3 weeks now – That’s mastery indeed.
About those curtains, they are a nice linen and give good lighting. As for the curtain loop, my idea for now was to use very old silk scarves – in similar shades of green, blue, pink. What do you think? It will not stay there, because Superman my husband is not a fan of my creativity on that one. We’ll have to find other loops. Oh well, maybe in a year.
